Planning to visit Wizarding World on a busy day? You might need a timed ticket to get in.
Given the anticipated crowds that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will bring, Universal has introduced a time ticketing system aimed at spreading out the crowds to prevent overcrowding. Given that this system is new to Universal Studios Hollywood, we’ll be detailing how best to use the system so you and your party have the easiest and most enjoyable time possible.
Getting Started
Before we begin, we would like to remind you of a few important pointers.
A Timed Entry Ticket is not always required to enter Wizarding World
Depending on when you visit, a Timed Entry Ticket may not be required. When a ticket is required to enter the land, team members will be staggered around the entrance of the park with signs directing guests to Universal Plaza. Signs near the entrance of the land warning guests that a Timed Entry Ticket is needed will also be displayed.
A Timed Entry Ticket is included in the price of admission
The Timed Entry Ticket is not a separate cost; rather, a Time Entry Ticket is included with the price of admission into the park. Annual pass members may also request a Time Entry Ticket once you enter the park.
A Timed Entry Ticket grants you access into the land and only the land
A Timed Entry Ticket will grant you access to the land at a predefined time. With that in mind, a Timed Entry Ticket does not grant you priority access to any rides, shops or experiences inside Hogsmeade. You’ll be required to purchase a Front of Line or VIP Experience package to gain front of line access.
What is a Timed Entry Ticket?
A Timed Entry Ticket gives you a time frame of one hour to enter the land. Once you are inside, you and your party are permitted to roam within the land as long as you would like until the park’s operating hours have concluded for the day. Once you leave the land, you will not be able to reenter the land unless you acquire another Timed Entry Ticket.
You only need one person in line to acquire a Timed Entry Ticket, so to help expedite the process, we suggest having the rest of your party wait for you at the exit. A Timed Entry Ticket is good for groups up to nine people, so make sure that for every nine people in your party, one person waits in line to receive their ticket.
Acquiring a Timed Entry Ticket
The following is a step-by-step process on how to acquire a Timed Entry Ticket into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Look for the signs!

If the Timed Entry Ticket system is in place, Universal team members will have signs instructing you to visit Universal Plaza (which is directly across Shrek 4D). From there, you’ll be directed into a queue to access a ticket kiosk.
Follow the on-screen directions

Once you approach a machine, you’ll be asked to input the number of people in your group, with options ranging to up to nine people. Again, if you have more than nine in your group, you will need to acquire a second Timed Entry Ticket.
After you’ve selected the number of people in your party, the next screen will offer you several one-hour window options. Select the time you would like to enter the land. Once you’ve selected a time, a ticket will print below the screen.
Entering into the Wizarding World
To redeem your ticket and meet your reserved entry time into the land, proceed to Wizarding World’s entrance across from Production Central. Please keep in mind that your entire party must be present to gain access. Hand the team member your ticket and you will be allowed access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
We hope this guide helps make the process of acquiring a Timed Entry Ticket easier and you enjoy your time in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
