A new trackless motion simulator based on the Secret Life of Pets may be opening on the former lot that once housed Soundstage 28, Inside Universal has learned. Similar to the technology pioneered in Tokyo Disneyland’s Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Universal’s new Secret Life of Pets attraction will borrow many of same characteristics found in Tokyo’s immensely popular Pooh ride. In addition, the attraction – in the same vain as Transformers: The Ride 3D – will be housed in a multi-story structure featuring a plethora of animatronics. December 25, 2015 – Universal Studios Hollywood has now implemented a new online ticket system with dynamic pricing, Inside Universal has learned. With online tickets now ranging from $80-$95, guests will now be able to select a variable price depending on their day of visit. Guests that choose to visit during peak operating days will pay Universal’s full cost of admission of $95, while those that select a non-peak day will be able to collect up to $15 in savings – with $5, $10 or $15 discount tiers. December 22, 2015 – Universal Studios Hollywood has eliminated the rain day guarantee, Inside Universal has learned. Offered to guests on park operating days that received more than 1/8 inch of rainfall by 2:00 PM, Universal allowed guests to request a complimentary return ticket valid for 30 days. Complimentary tickets may be quested from Guest Relations at any time during the day of visit. December 21, 2015 – In response to growing nationwide security concerns, Universal has begun the use of metal detectors located at the main gate in front of the entrance plaza. Guests who enter the theme park may be subjected to an enhanced security screening, which includes the use of hand-held metal detectors. Selected guests will be guided to an additional security checkpoint next to the CityWalk Universal Studio Store within the entrance plaza, where guests will be screened by security personnel.
