Here’s a look around at what’s happening at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, from January 16, 2023, to January 22, 2023.
Universal Orlando
Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, which includes DreamWorks Destination, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Fievel’s Playground, Curious George Goes to Town, and the new Shrek Meet & Greet, are now officially closed. The E.T. Adventure, Animal Actors on Location!, Spongebob StorePants, and KidZone Pizza Company will remain operational.
Refurbishments
Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Florida is still in Technical Rehearsal and may operate on a limited, unscheduled basis. There is no word as to when the ride will “officially” reopen.
Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure is closed for its annual Winter refurbishment. The ride is expected to reopen on February 4, 2023.
Kopiko Wai Winding River at Volcano Bay is closed for refurbishment. The attraction is scheduled to reopen on February 15, 2023.
Universal Studios Hollywood
Super Nintendo World has “Soft Opened” to guests. For those unfamiliar, a “Soft Opening” is essentially a technical rehearsal of a new attraction and/or land; or a final release candidate test for the ride. All the major components are operational but some tweaks, changes, and updates will occur prior to the grand opening. “Soft Openings” are never promised. There is no guarantee the ride will be open. The ride might only open for a period of time, all day, or not at all depending on any issues or changes.
There is no set schedule or guarantee it will be open until its official grand opening, which is set for February 17, 2023.
Refurbishments
- Flight of the Hippogriff remains closed. There is no word as to why the attraction closed or when the ride will reopen.
