With The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash set to open in the near future, Universal Studios Hollywood plans on repackaging the surrounding area, along with Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and Super Silly Fun Land, into Illumination-branded “neighborhoods” – creating an Illumination Land in the Upper Lot.
Recently, a sign was installed near the entrance of The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash showing the street will be renamed “Pets Place”. This is in addition to “Minion Way”, the street where Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem currently resides. We must stress that these plans have not been confirmed by Universal – and should be treated as a rumor until then.
We’re not sure what this means in regards to French Street; more specifically, if this means the area will eventually be replaced to incorporate more Minions, Pets, or other Illumination properties.

The innovative adventure will blend live, dimensional and animated characters with hyper-realistic media as guests zip along a track aboard ride vehicles through bustling New York City streets towards the Pet Adoption event and the ultimate happy ending: forever homes.
