While guests eagerly await the opening of Jurassic World: The Ride, Universal Studios Hollywood re-opened the Raptor Encounter, while also debuting 2 new dinosaur meet & greets.
Located adjacent to the ride, the newly-themed Raptor Encounter allows guests to meet Blue and her beta Raptors. Initially debuting last Summer, each Raptor bares 56 razor-sharp, bone-crushing teeth and lunges forward with curved talons that extend up to 12 inches from their 18-inch-long feet. Towering 12 feet in height and 15 feet – from tail to snout.
Blue, of course, became popular after her debut in 2015’s Jurassic World – where she was the Alpha of her Raptor pack and was the beloved dino of Chris Pratt’s character, Owen.
New to Jurassic World, guests can also meet a baby velociraptor around the area, learning more about the dinosaur as the handler encourages guests to get up close and pet the baby raptor.
Another new addition to the park is the huge Triceratops dinosaur that roams the area around Jurassic World. Named Julia, guests can learn more about the triceratops from its handler as they are encouraged to either pet or take photos with her.
The addition of the new dinosaur meet & greets add a new dimension to the Jurassic World area, making the section feel more alive.
Jurassic World: The Ride is set to open this Summer, but no opening date has been announced. The ride features an original storyline and features the stars of the Jurassic World films – Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong who reprise their roles as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing and Dr. Henry Wu.
