Thursday, November 8th marked the 14th annual Day of Giving at Universal Studios Hollywood, a seasonal event which allows Universal and USH employees the unique opportunity to entertain and serve young guests who might not otherwise have the opportunity to visit the Hollywood park.
In cooperation with Operation School Bell, 300 local homeless children were invited to the park for a day of escape and adventure, but not before a greeting of new clothing, shoes, books, and other vital school supplies, all matched to each individual child, or chosen by the child themselves.
Although the young guests seemed most anxious and excited to enter the park, particularly The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the enthusiasm and joy were matched by the many volunteers and event staff, who were on site to ensure that every child left equipped for school and beyond.
Event Organizer, Danielle Prado summed up the Day of Giving as one of Universal’s many projects “appealing to all the interests and needs of the community,” but highlighted today as uniquely special:
“The best part is that they get to spend the whole afternoon in our park, enjoying our attractions, meeting our characters, and just having fun.”
