Aventura Hotel has officially welcomed its first guests and is now open as the 6th on-site resort at Universal Orlando.
The 600 room hotel is very technologically driven and features a contemporary, modern design. The shape of the hotel, officially, is called Trefoil; and Universal’s design team really embraced the shape by utilizing it in signage, furniture, and decor.
The selling point of the hotel is the views, as well as offering all of Universal’s on-site amenities for a low cost. Guest rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer incredible views. Each room includes a tablet that controls your TV, the thermometer, the lights, and order room service.
The hotel also includes a virtual reality game room, which guests can play for $10 for 5 minutes. Annual Passholders do receive 50% discounts. Guests can choose between several games, including Fruit Ninja. The VR Hub is open from 2 pm to 10 pm daily.
The hotel is within walking distance of Volcano Bay, as a new Garden Walk path was extended to allow guests a more convenient walk. To get to CityWalk and the theme parks, guests can either wait for a bus or take a short walk over to Sapphire Falls and board a water taxi.
For food and drink, the hotel offers several different options. Besides your standard Starbucks location, the lobby features a casual bar – barVentura, which opens at 5pm each day. The main food hall for Aventura, Urban Pantry, offers all different types of fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food hall features 5 different stations – Wok/Asian, Burger, Rotisserie, Pizza, and Dessert.
During our visit, we tried out the burger station and ordered the French, which includes bacon & fig jam, whole grain mustard relish, gruyere cheese, and a side of fries. The fixins (lettuce, tomato, etc) come on the side for any burger you order. In an unusual twist which should satisfy pickle lovers, Universal serves the sides with a full, whole Kosher pickle. The convenience of Urban Pantry, while not sacrificing taste, should satisfy hotel guests.
Inside the rooftop bar, Bar 17 Bistro – guests can enjoy cocktails and small plates inspired by global cuisine while enjoying amazing views around the Resort, as well as the rest of Orlando. During our visit, we ordered the Volcano View (Suntori “Toki” whiskey, lemon, shiso) cocktail, which is the bar’s take on a whiskey sour, along with several types of bao buns. We found the Pork Belly to be the best bite of the bunch, so we highly recommend. The bar is open to all, including non-guests, and opens at 4 pm daily. Dinner/Snacks are only served between 5 pm – 10 pm.
We were able to get a sneak peek of the hotel earlier in the week, which you can read here.
