Yesterday, Inside Universal was among other media outlets invited for the official debut of multiple new experiences to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Among these experiences includes the introduction of two new spells in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, new authentic costume replicas available for purchase, and Madam Malkin’s Talking Mirror found in the corridor between Gladrags Wizardwear and Dervish and Banges. Alongside it all, we were also invited to taste a variety of Butterbeer-flavored treats, featuring the newly-introduced Butterbeer hard-pack ice cream.

Firstly, we began with a taste test of the many Butterbeer-flavored desserts available for purchase in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, including Butterbeer potted cream, Butterbeer fudge, Butterbeer hard-pack ice cream, and the Butterbeer beverage itself – which was served hot, cold, or frozen.

After concluding our Butterbeer feast, we headed over to the wall just past the Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade train station to view the new wand experiences. The two new spells, Alohomora and Incendio, are located close in proximity, leading to a growing crowd as muggles, witches, and wizards alike came to view or cast the spells.

Alohomora – the unlocking charm – unlocks multiple locks on the giant door before you, causing it to shake violently before revealing a cloud of smoke coming from beneath the door, alerting all of the presence of a fiery beast resting just inside. Incendio – the fire-making spell – shoots a burst of fire out of a chimney, though the size of the flames depends on how well the spell is executed.

We concluded our visit to the Wizarding World with a quick look inside of Gladrags Wizardwear, where a new replica of Severus Snape’s robe is available for purchase alongside a replica of Hermione Granger’s Yule Ball dress taken straight out of the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire film, available in a variety of both adult and children’s sizes. In the corridor between Gladrags Wizardwear and Dervish and Banges, we also found Madam Malkin’s Talking Mirror, which compliments guests who stand before it.

Be sure to catch these experiences, as well as The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle, which runs now through August 19, and additionally for Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3.
