Shrek 4-D is set to close on August 13th, Inside Universal has learned.
Initially reported by Park Journey on Twitter, the 4-D attraction based on the hit Dreamworks franchise will be closing after a 14-year run.
Shrek 4-D opened in 2003, replacing the Rugrats Magic Adventure 3-D attraction, and has several clones located in Universal Parks around the world – including Universal Orlando. As of now, this closure is set for Hollywood’s version only.
Inside Universal sources have said that Shrek 4-D may be replaced with another hit Dreamworks franchise – Kung Fu Panda.
This would be the first attraction created with Dreamworks Animation under the Comcast/Universal umbrella.
As of now, the closing date and replacement have not been made official by Universal Studios Hollywood.
