Hollywood Pizza & Gelato has closed and will be replaced by Blaze Pizza, Inside Universal has learned.
Hollywood Pizza & Gelato is only one of the many iterations of quick service pizza restaurants to be in this location. Since its replacement of Antonio’s Pizza in 2013, Hollywood Pizza & Gelato has been providing guests of Universal CityWalk with delicious New York style pizza and Italian style gelatos. Conveniently located next to the AMC Universal CityWalk movie theater, this pizza shop was a favorite of many pizza eaters and movie goers. The food served at this restaurant was consistently good and the prices were appropriate and convenient for families who had already spent their savings in the park.
As you can tell by the pictures, Hollywood Pizza & Gelato is in the process of converting to Blaze Pizza. Blaze Pizza, a pizza restaurant that creates “Fast-Fire’d Custom Built Artisanal Pizzas,” has been taking the pizza eating community by storm. Opening in the summer of 2012 with two locations, Irvine and Pasadena, Blaze Pizza has expanded to nearly 200 restaurants either open or in development. Blaze Pizza, which claims to create “exceptional quality” pizzas in “lightning fast speed,” has now become the fastest growing build-your-own-pizza chain in the nation. With this in mind, it is no wonder that Universal CityWalk has jumped on the opportunity to open its own Blaze Pizza.
Hollywood Pizza & Gelato is currently located in CityWalk between Starbucks Coffee and the AMC Universal CityWalk movie theater. Blaze Pizza will go into this same location, marking the end of Hollywood Pizza & Gelato.
As always, thank you for making Inside Universal your number one source for all things Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk. Stay tuned as we continue to update you on this and many other projects.
