Around the Universe returns this week with OU’s newest correspondent, Cameron. This week we’ll take a look at construction updates of The Hulk Coaster, Kongstruction at Skull Island:Reign of Kong, the former NBA City, and some pictures of the newly open NBC Sports Grill & Brew; as well as testing progress to the outside video screen. Let’s begin!
Let’s start in Universal’s CityWalk, where we find a new, fully complete HHN25 brick wall mural on the stage in between Cowfish and the Universal Store. These murals are spray painted by hand, and a new one is featured every week!
There are also new LED signs in front of the parking tolls displaying parking fees, including the new $20 general parking rate.
In CityWalk, we have a few pictures of the newly opened NBC Sports Grill & Brew.
Later in the night, the large screen outside NBC was being tested and showing a solid blue color.
Going to the former home of NBA City now, where the sign has been removed and walls have been put up around the building.
Let’s head into Islands of Adventure now, where we begin at the current progress of The Hulk Coaster de-construction. Parts of the track have already been removed from the ride towards the back; and a crane is sitting close to the wait times board indicating that work will soon begin on the track around the lagoon. It was confirmed by Universal Orlando this week that B&M is behind the re-tracking of the coaster, and not another coaster manufacturer.
Some comic book art lines the walls along the Hulk coaster, as well as a opening date graphic.
Photo Funnies in Toon Lagoon has re-opened after a brief refurbishment in late September.
Finally, we make our way to the future home of Skull Island to see the current progress Kongstruction.
The mountain mural painting continues behind the facade.
That’ll be all for this week’s Around the Universe. Next time we’ll include Volcano Bay, Sapphire Falls, and more!
