Downtown Disney is no more, as the Walt Disney World Resort officially changed the name of the entertainment, shopping and dining complex to Disney Springs.
Over the last several weeks, “Disney Springs” started to replace “Downtown Disney” on roadway signage and throughout Disney World property. Yesterday, the change was made official; along with the grand opening of the new restaurant Morimoto Asia.
Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2016; which will allow guests to explore 4 distinct neighborhoods: The Landing, Marketplace, West Side and Town Center. Disney Springs WILL continue to be open during the construction.
