June 9, 2014 – Through an exclusive with USA Today, Universal announced that AMC’s hit zombie show, The Walking Dead, will be returning to Hollywood and Florida for 2014’s iteration of Halloween Horror Nights.

This marks the first official maze announcement regarding Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood’s lineup for 2014, and it is also The Walking Dead’s third consecutive year with the event. The property has been a fan favorite and has had arguably the largest presence in Horror Nights – commanding both a backlot experience and the Terror Tram.

This year’s maze appears to be dubbed The Walking Dead: More Dead Than Ever, and will likely take place in the infamous prison which Rick and the gang inhabited throughout season three and four. The maze will also contain other familiar elements from the fourth season of the series. Meanwhile, the Terror Tram has been given the name The Terror Tram: Invaded by The Walking Dead.

Perhaps more interesting, the USA Today exclusive also notes that there will be “…zombies overflowing through a ‘scare zone’ throughout the park.” Seeing how the scare zone was on Universal’s metropolitan backlot sets last year, one has to wonder if the concept be returning for this year’s event? We’ve included a video of the announcement below.
