Universal City, Ca – A towering 40 ft. Christmas tree–animated with a stunning display of choreographed music, lights, visuals and snow- plus a non-stop parade of bands, choirs and street performers, and Southern California’s most unique shopping opportunities make Universal CityWalk the liveliest place to get into the holiday spirit during the month-long seasonal gala, now through December 31.

The giant traditional Christmas tree sprinkled with 100,000 LED lights treat spectators to a wildly over-the-top high-tech holiday show including a breathtaking Southern California snowfall at regular evening intervals throughout the week. From Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, guests are immersed in a holiday atmosphere that is enhanced by countless twinkling lights, oversized ornaments, and abundant garlands. The holiday sounds of a diverse range of street performers scattered around the street add to the festive mood and the world’s largest mistletoe dangles overhead from CityWalk’s “Santa” Gorilla to add to the ultimate merry “kiss-mas” spirit.

Friday’s rock bands bring the popular CityWalk stage to life with eclectic beats and holiday remixes from 7:30 –10:00pm, Saturday’s dynamic choirs entertain with holiday classics while decked out in colorful festive garb from 7:30 – 10:00pm and Sunday Nights Rising Stars will inspire dance moves from 5:30 – 8:00pm.

Santa Claus is available in CityWalk’s Cinema Plaza for photo opportunities every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 2:00pm and continuing throughout the evenings’ entertainment during the holiday season.

On December 12, the 15-foot, 1,000-lb. Menorah lit up Universal CityWalk for the 8th annual Chanukah Festival from 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm as hundreds gathered at the free Festival of Lights celebration.

From December 26 – 30, CityWalk will amp up the entertainment with daily concert performances from popular bands beginning at 7:30pm.

Southern California’s largest, free New Year’s Eve party will kick-off at CityWalk as the 2010 countdown begins at 9:00 pm on December 31. The high-energy party will celebrate the New Year with double the fun holding twin countdowns. CityWalk will rock two live bands with performances on both ends and global countdowns culminating with blasts of confetti cannons and colorful firework displays to bring in the New Year.

Within the Universal Studios HollywoodSM theme park, traditional white Christmas and an encounter with the not-so-traditional green Grinch will await guests as The Entertainment Capital of L.A. SM celebrates The 13 Days of “Grinchmas” with tons of powder-fresh snow, meetings with The Grinch, Cindy Lou-Who and Max the Dog and a “Whoville” jubilation at the original movie sets where the classic “Dr Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was filmed.
