Universal has announced that Stephen King’s The Shining will be coming to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time, bringing one of the greatest horror/suspense films to life.

Based on the 1980 film – directed by Stanley Kubrick, the film sees Jack Torrance (played by Jack Nicholson) deal with a deadly case of writer’s block while staying with his family in The Overlook Hotel – which has its own tragic history of murder and madness, bearing witness to caretaker Jack Torrance’s spiraling descent into insanity. The film is widely known for some of the most iconic moments in cinematic history; from the Grady twins down the hall way, to REDRUM, and Jack’s famous line while breaking through the bathroom door “Hereee’s Johnny”.

Universal promises that guests will experience “nightmarish visions coming to life, overwhelming guests with the “shine” of the murderous, ghostly entities that lurk around every turn – all while trying to escape the wrath of Jack Torrance as he violently succumbs to the hotel’s paranormal forces.”
