Universal City, CA – Universal CityWalk’s new Samba Brazilian Steakhouse & Lounge puts a new twist on the latest cocktail craze with the introduction of a dedicated Caipirinha Bar, serving up spirited variations of Brazil’s national cocktail.

With a versatile palate-pleasing assortment of nearly two dozen tantalizing concoctions, the popular Caipirinha is quickly replacing the martini as L.A.’s new “it” drink.

Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha, is made with cachaça, the country’s most common distilled alcoholic beverage, created from fermented and distilled sugarcane juice, along with sugar and lime. Imports of cachaça, a previously rare commodity on American shelves, have increased in recent years and with that increaed availability has come a rise in the drink’s popularity. Variations include any number of mixtures that blend cachaça with an array of fresh fruits.

Following is a recipe sampling of select mouth-watering Caipirinhas, developed exclusively by Samba’s mixologist.

Samba Caipirinha

1.5 oz fresh pressed sugar cane juice

1.5 oz Cachaca

In a shaker, mix limes with cane juice. Fill with ice, add Cachaca and shake vigorously. Serve over ice and garnish with lime.

Flor de Coco Caipirinha

1 oz coconut puree

½ lime

1 oz Cachaca

Serve in a cocktail glass and top with champagne. Garnish with coconut shavings.

Jalapeno-Cucumber Caipirinha

1.5 oz fresh pressed sugar cane juice

1.5 oz Cachaca

In a shaker, mix limes with cane juice. Fill with ice and add Cachaca and shake vigorously. Serve over ice and garnish, add 2 thin slices of seeded jalapenos, and one scoop diced cucumber. Garnish with lime.
